Moving In a Hurry? Follow These Tips

Life can work in mysterious ways. It can also be very fast paced, and all of us have no idea what is just around the corner. One of these things could be a move.
Plenty of us know how difficult moving house can be, and if it is not by choice, this can further exacerbate the challenges and emotional turmoil someone might face.
Even if someone is happy to move, the last-minute preparations can really throw a person!

If you are in this situation then check out these tips to help make the process as seamless as possible!

Do Not Panic

It can be easy to begin feeling completely stressed out when anything significant pops up out of the blue, but the first thing you need to do is try not to panic. Yes, moving house can be stressful, especially when you have to manage around other responsibilities, but sitting down, collecting your thoughts and writing a list of everything that needs to be done can break down everything into reasonable, manageable chunks.

Write a Plan

A plan for moving can consist of anything you want, and can also be laid out however you choose. A helpful tip might be to start with what equipment and materials you need to start with, such as boxes, tape, bubble wrap or packing peanuts, labels, and a pen. You can then move on to which rooms you need to pack up first, usually in order of the least used. Or you can focus on items that are the least used and get those packed away first.

You will also want to write down any additional information that could be helpful such as contacts for moving companies and numbers you need to call to switch over plans or cancel, such as gas, electricity and internet.

Book a Moving Company

If you are undertaking a move last minute, do yourself a favor and hire a moving company to help you. Moving is stressful and time consuming enough when you have plenty of notice, so you can only imagine how stressful it can be when you are on a strict schedule. Find a company by Googling packers and movers near me that can work on short notice and also enquire about what other services they might offer too such as packing assistance.

This can really take a load off – quite literally.

Follow Some Hacks

If all else fails, there are plenty of last minute hacks you can use to get your stuff out of your house as quickly as possible and into your new home. Ideally you will want to make sure any breakable items are wrapped as well as possible, but you can use items such as clothes and duvets for this if you do not have any specialist wrap. You can also use the closet hack of keeping all of your clothes on hangers and then putting them into a bin bag. Tie around the top of the bag to keep everything in place and then you can move them into the wardrobe just as they are.
